How bad has the Nordic Model made things for you in Canada?

I'm from Ireland, and recently signed up to this site's UK counterpart.

Last week I saw a post made by a Canadian escort on the SAAFE forum, and she said she'd never work in Ireland as it's much worse.

She mentioned the book Elis by Anna Rajmon as a source on how bad Ireland's sex trade is, and now that I've read it I know what she means.

Both countries are under the Nordic Model, so I'm wondering how bad things are in Canada. Is it as bad as Ireland because of the Nordic Model, or is there something else which makes Ireland so much worse?

What does it say in the book? What is the reason for the bad position of sex workers in Ireland?

@lostboy

The book is Rajmon's memoir of her time in the sex trade, and it's worth reading. Very eye-opening, and some of the stuff she went through is pretty disturbing. It's an interesting look at what goes on behind the scenes.

I would have said the Nordic Model was why Ireland's sex workers are in a bad position. I'm just curious if things are like that in Canada too, or if there's something else.

So it's a bad position in terms of reduced traffic? Making money is difficult? I thought she meant Ireland's alcohol problem, drunken clients etc.

@lostboy

No, it's much worse than that. Violent clients, greedy agency pimps, and a lot more.

I don't think I can link the book here, but I'll PM you the Kindle link. It's cheap enough, and definitely worth reading.
